What a flat rack container is

A flat rack container has collapsible ends for heavy, wide, or irregular loads. There are no side walls or roof, so cargo can be loaded from the sides or from above and strapped down to the floor's lashing points.

Units in this category

  • a used 20ft flat rack
  • a 40ft flat rack for longer loads

Typical uses

Flat racks carry machinery, vehicles, boats, timber, steel pipe, and other cargo that won't fit inside a closed box. On a site they also work as a heavy-duty platform. With the ends folded down, empty flat racks can be stacked to save space.

Choosing between a flat rack and an open top

If the load is tall but fits within the container's width, an open top container gives you walls on all sides. If it's wider than the container, you need a flat rack. Request a quote with your load's size and weight and we'll help you pick.
